Monty & Theresa Fowler met in 1988 and married in 1992. They live in Elgin, IL (a suburb of Chicago) and are members of Mission Church in Bloomingdale, IL. They have four adult children and two grandchildren and love getting the whole family together for Sunday dinners and every holiday. Both are trained biblical counselors through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and the Biblical Counseling Center. They are also certified facilitators with Prepare/Enrich, the premier online pre-marriage and marriage assessment tool used by thousands of pastors, counselors, therapists, and life coaches.
We understand life is hard. In our 30+ years together, we have walked through significant trials together, from divorce to blended family, from grief and loss to cancer diagnosis and other significant health issues, from prodigal children who struggle with addiction, anxiety and depression to financial distress and job loss, from caring for elderly parents to raising four strong-willed children. But through it all we have found the grace of God and peace that He promises.
Monty is a technologist and senior sales leader working at his 8th technology startup. He is a Northern Illinois University graduate with an MBA in Strategy & Marketing. Monty has been a volunteer missionary since 2000, working with Amazon Outreach to deliver the Gospel and much-needed medical & dental care to the people along the Amazon River in Brazil. He has also served in VBS, Youth Ministry, and AV Production and has been involved in both Men’s and Couples’ small groups.
Theresa is a fifth-grade teacher at Olive-Mary Stitt Elementary School in Arlington Heights. She is a graduate of Roosevelt University and Olivet-Nazarene University and holds dual Masters Degrees in Education and Curriculum & Instruction. She has led several ministries since 2000 including Children’s Ministry, Vacation Bible School, and Youth Ministry. She has led women’s bible study groups and served as a Biblical Counselor for more than a decade.
